LEITMOTIF LEARNING LTD

people are the experts on themselves

Home: Welcome

SERVICES OFFERED

We are a small consultancy who support leaders making changes in their lives and to the world in which they lead.

We do this through all aspects of leadership development - training, facilitation, coaching, action learning, identity and personal branding, The Thinking Environment, research and evaluation.

We believe wholeheartedly that people are the experts on themselves, that usually they don’t need advice or other people’s ideas, and that they have within them all the knowledge, skill and ability they need in order to move forward.

At Leitmotif we believe that our job is to help people reveal and access all their resources consciously in a demanding world.

ACTION LEARNING

Small groups, real issues

Action learning is a continuous learning process where a small group of learners (a “set”) meet regularly for a contracted number of meetings to work together on real issues; it provides a safe environment of peers with whom to explore new ways of looking at situations.
Each member brings a work-related issue to the set and, with the questioning and coaching support of the other set members, works to resolve that issue.  Sets will normally contain about six people plus a facilitator whose job it is to act as a “coach to the coaches”.

IDENTITY AND PERSONAL BRANDING

Imagine knowing exactly what your life journey’s was for.  Imagine being truly and powerfully yourself in all situations.  Wouldn’t that give you the freedom to achieve what you wanted to?  To do the things that really mattered to you?  To live the life that truly fulfilled you?

By collecting the material of your life you can create an archetypal brand.  A brand is a message, a promise, a service.  And what makes some brands iconic is that they have stumbled into archetypal territory.  Archetypes (explored in detail by the work of Carl Jung) are symbols, patterns, blueprints that occur all over the world in myths, stories and films; we recognise them instantly yet we usually do this at the unconscious level.  Over the course of five coaching sessions we will work with you to help you reveal your own true nature, discover your innate gifts and abilities, recognise where you are best suited in life and appreciate your strengths as well as understand your areas of challenge.  Ultimately you create your brand and your own, rich, unique and unmistakeable story to guide you in making conscious choices in your life that will fulfil you.
This is highly beneficial for coaches, consultants, leaders, small business owners and anyone who needs to use who they are in the work that they do, who wants to make an unmistakeable impact on others or who simply wants to get maximum fulfilment out of their life.

THE THINKING ENVIRONMENT

The most valuable thing we can offer each
other is the framework in which to think
for ourselves - Nancy Kline

Using a process called The Thinking Environment we teach people how to produce independent thinking in their organisations, teams and lives.

The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first.  The quality of our thinking depends on the way we treat each other while we are thinking.

The most important skill we can acquire, then, is the ability to help people think for themselves – with rigour, imagination, courage and grace.

The Thinking Environment is a set of conditions that help people to think well for themselves. It was developed by Nancy Kline and her company Time to Think.  Kline’s discovery, supported by much research, is that in order for people to think clearly and independently, the people around them need to behave in certain ways. These have become known as the Ten Components of a Thinking Environment and have been applied to various aspects of work and lives in general.

ANGELA BLACKLAW

Angela is Director of Leitmotif Learning Ltd.

I have years of senior expertise in personal and organisational development, leadership, change, wellbeing and resilience operating at both strategic and practitioner level. Questioning and curious, I often bring an alternative perspective and encourage others to see things differently too.  I have a passion for encouraging people to express their deep selves and to create and live their own dreams.

My core specialisms include:

•  Designing and facilitating powerful and memorable learning experiences;

•  Building warm, honest and challenging coaching relationships, enabling people to achieve more than they thought was possible;

Sometimes I work alone, sometimes in collaboration with other trusted professionals. Clients have included Liberty Speciality Markets, Hampshire County Council, ING, Schneider Electric, Civil Service Learning, Church of England, Department for Work and Pensions, Royal Courts of Justice, Home Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Sellafield Ltd, Ministry of Defence, Insolvency Service, CGI, Cancer Research UK, The Institute for Contemporary Music Performance and Transport for London.  I am a member of the Faculty of the NHS Leadership Academy, and a member of the coaching pool for Senior Civil Servants.

I started my career as an actress and am also a contemporary musician;  I write, perform and record my own material and also sing in the acclaimed Mike King Collective.  I am married with one cat and live in NW London.

Why Leitmotif?  A leitmotif is a musical theme - we hear them in film music very often - and it identifies and embodies a character.  A leitmotif is distinctive, individual and recognisable; it can be varied without losing its basic shape.  It has meaning.  It is, if you like, a trademark or a brand for a person.   So because I believe in the individuality of people I called my company Leitmotif Learning Ltd.  I aim to support people in exploring their own, true, deep selves and expressing that identity powerfully and authentically in their working lives.

TESTIMONIALS

What They’re Saying

Home: Testimonials

“I was able to absorb and integrate and apply information and insights before getting the next ‘building block’… a really safe, non-judgemental empathic space where I could really explore and be very open and honest – which I found really helpful as I articulated things that I had not realised I had been thinking about.  I have really looked at things in a different way.  The unexpected ‘get from the coaching was an insight that helped me stay centred when my professional and personal life was (and still is) really uncertain.  I see myself being a lot more resilient, optimistic and having the courage to make sure my next step is doing something that I love and fully uses my skills.”
